Madroño Ranch

Medina, Texas

We created the identity for a buffalo ranch and the owners’ plan to develop the property as a retreat center for environmental writers — and to market their grass-fed bison to support their literary programs.

  • The logo was developed in reference to antique feed bags. It honors the grand silhouette of the ranch's bison herd, backlit and radiant in the morning light, the stuff of American lore.

  • The owners' business cards introduce the diverse nature of the property: one part writer's retreat, one part food production venue, one part culinary school.

  • The first printing of the bison packaging label was a product of more than a few rounds with numerous evasive governmental regulatory agencies. We made the most of the real estate not spoken for by cooking instructions.
