As part of a recent renovation of Houston’s Memorial City Mall, we designed a family of large scale, interpretive posters to complement a classic Italian carousel built for the food court.
We referenced antique carousel catalogues and period publications to ensure the typography and graphic details were historically appropriate.
Each panel uses a different frame style and typographic approach, and a color palette that works with the carousel itself. We sourced the historical etchings and art directed the map.
The flat posters were fabricated in shadow box-like layers. Digital prints on canvas were adhered to water-jet-cut aluminum, then pinned off one another for added depth.
