Burnet Marketplace

Conveying the lure of downtown-style living in a laid-back Austin neighborhood

Burnet Marketplace combines the amenities and finishes of a downtown apartment tower with the relaxed lifestyle of a traditional Austin neighborhood. We highlighted this unique combination with an identity, messaging, interior art, signage, and marketing materials that are simultaneously casual and refined, and that emphasize the distinctive charm and diverse attractions of the increasingly popular Burnet Road corridor.

Identity and Marketing Collateral

For the project's graphic identity we took inspiration from the site's past life as a farmers market. The resulting "farmhouse pop" style connects Burnet Marketplace to the site's unusual history while adding enough abstraction to avoid being too literal.

Teaser Video

Burnet Marketplace was built during the Burnet Road corridor's emergence as one of Austin's most popular dining and entertainment destinations. To capture the excitement of Burnet Road's mix of new establishments and well-established favorites, we created a low-cost, high-energy video tour of the neighborhood and shared it via social media and the project's website.

“I have collaborated with Asterisk Group on a number of large scale residential & mixed-use projects, including this one at the epicenter of the thriving Burnet Road corridor. From the early stages of conceptual identity & branding to the final stages of signage installation & marketing, they were always on point and a highly valued member of our team. They approached this project like they do all of our projects, with an exceptionally creative and unique approach and the utmost professionalism. They played an essential role in establishing our brand and setting our project apart from the herd. In this environment, with new & competitive properties opening seemingly every week, it can be very challenging to deliver a distinctive product. Asterisk’s creative perspective certainly helped make Burnet Marketplace a successful project for us, our investors, and our residents.”

Interior Art

Our interior art program for Burnet Marketplace consists almost exclusively of custom pieces that we developed to reflect the project's modern-farmhouse-inspired identity and its Burnet Road location. We kept costs down with repurposed materials and added an element of interactivity with a three-dimensional neighborhood map where staff and residents can pin notes about their favorite neighborhood attractions.

Project Signage

Like the identity, the project's signage blends comfort and sophistication while mixing in a bit of whimsy along the way. On interior wayfinding and identification signs, the rough grain of the wood panels creates a warm backdrop for the clean, sophisticated icons and typography that convey the signs' messages. On the exterior, the classic logotype and traditional neon illumination technique playfully contrast the building's contemporary architecture.

Within six months of completion, the project was fully leased and sold.
